Former Hawaii Police Officer Teddy O. Van Lerberghe will serve only five years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender, for raping a five-year-old girl from 2004-2008. His successful plea bargaining is keeping him out of jail.
If Teddy hadn’t been a police officer and afforded the protection of a Police Union, chances are Teddy would be in jail as we speak. Us plebes don’t have the luxury of the Police force and the “thin blue line” to protect us when we break the law.
Fortunately, people are starting to take notice! An article from 2017 brought to light the growing problem of Police Unions regularly keeping bad cops on the force and in their communities where they can continue to terrorize the public.
In many cases, the Police Unions are just as bad (and often worse) than the Catholic Church.
The public can take solace in the fact that at least Teddy will have to register as a sex offender. Too bad he leaves a broken child in his wake thanks to his actions.
